— An Introduction to...
Energy Leadership
A Transformative Way to Lead and Live.
Energy Leadership® is both a powerful form of leadership and a practice in managing energy so that it works for you, not against you. Leadership itself is the ability to influence others, either positively or negatively, to create impact. Through Energy Leadership, this influence becomes intentional, empowering you to lead by choice, rather than by default.
When you understand and apply Energy Leadership principles, you can shift not only your own energy but also positively impact those around you. It enables you to feel more motivated, find a deeper sense of purpose, and achieve meaningful success with less stress. By learning to elevate your energy, you naturally attract positive people and situations into your life, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally.
Two Types of Energy:
At its core, Energy Leadership distinguishes between two primary types of energy:
1. Anabolic Energy
This energy is constructive and growth-oriented; it fuels resilience, optimism, and a forward-looking approach. It helps you stay engaged, inspire those around you, and achieve sustainable, long-term success. Anabolic energy broadens your perspective, giving you the clarity to find creative solutions and embrace new opportunities.
2. Catabolic Energy
This destructive energy can be draining and self-limiting. While this energy can create a temporary boost in high-stress situations, over time, it takes a toll, reducing clarity and narrowing your ability to see the bigger picture or find constructive options. Leaders who operate from this energy frequently experience higher stress, limited options, and burnout.
With Energy Leadership, you’ll learn how to recognize where you are on the energy spectrum and understand the power of shifting from catabolic to anabolic energy. This shift allows you to lead with intention and influence others in a positive, sustainable way.
The Seven Levels of Energy
The Energy Leadership™ framework reveals that each of us fluctuates across seven levels of energy, from low-energy, survival-oriented responses to higher, constructive states that open us up to creativity, connection, and positive influence. By understanding these levels, you gain insight into how your thoughts and emotions impact your leadership style, relationships, and decision-making.
Level One: "Victim"
At this lowest level, energy feels draining. This is where we might feel powerless, reacting with self-doubt or resignation. Leaders at this level often think, “Why does this always happen to me?”
Level Two: "Conflict"
This is a reactive level, where frustration and blame emerge. Leaders at Level Two may approach situations with a “win-lose” mindset, believing that conflict and control are the only paths to success.
Level Three: "Responsibility"
Here, anabolic energy starts to take hold, and responsibility becomes central. Leaders may think, “I win, and I hope you do too,” focusing on managing challenges rather than being consumed by them.
Level Four: "Compassion"
At this level, leaders often put others first, focusing on empathy and teamwork. With a “you win, don’t worry about me” attitude, they build strong, loyal relationships, though sometimes at the cost of their own needs.
Level Five: "Reconciliation"
This level is marked by a “win-win” mindset. Leaders view challenges as opportunities, embracing differences and motivating others to work toward shared success.
Level Six: "Synthesis"
Leaders at this level see the world holistically, fostering connection and collaboration. They operate from a place of synergy, often expressing, “We all win together.”
Level Seven: "Non-Judgement"
This is the highest level of energy, where leaders experience a sense of flow and fulfillment. Here, winning and losing lose significance, and leaders view themselves as part of a larger whole, leading with complete clarity and vision.
These levels offer a roadmap for understanding and managing your energy. Where are you on this spectrum?
